Today we are in the process of understanding viral infections at the molecular level regarding the interplay between host (patient), guest (virus) and drug. Increasingly, the analysis is aided by computer through the maintenance of databases for the relevant genomic, virological and clinical data, as well as through the development of bioinformatics methods for analyzing the relevant data and building computer models for disease progression, drug treatment and development of resistance.
